I'm not sure if it's because St. Patrick's Day is right around the corner, or if it's the promise of spring that is so close, I can feel it...
but either way, I find lately that I am drawn to green in a way that I have never quite been before.
I have slowly, but steadily been adding the crisp color of apple green into my decor and I love the fresh feeling that it brings to spaces that are starting to feel a little ho-hum and boring, and I'm wondering if maybe green should make it's way into our home as a stronger statement.
For inspiration, I went to Houzz, and this is what I found:
Twenty photos that draw me in and make me crave green in a big, bad way.
From light and bright, to bold and intense, green has the ability to be
calm and relaxing or bold and energetic.
I could happily exist in any one of these spaces...
what about you?
All of this inspiration prompted me to put together a green mantle just in time for St. Patrick's Day. It isn't a holiday mantel, by any stretch of the imagination, but more of a subtle reminder.
And, as it turns out, a great way to bring a little bit of that promise of spring to the inside of our home!

oooh love it! Ive been slowly incorporating pops of green in my livingroom and kitchen... this is just what I need to convince the hubby that Im not out of my mind
Green is such a happy spring color. I love to use it as accents along with touchs of pale blue for my spring decorating. Although I'm a fan of green, I keep it on the pale side and use it only on items that are easy to change - nothing permanent - like pillows, plates, table runners and such.
I love it! Green is such a wonderful color. Its ability to inject spunk, life, to jazz up a ho-hum room, yet be calming, tranquil and relaxing. Our bedroom is in process of a "green" makeover. I am totally LOVING it!
Love the green! I'm currently trying to add some green to our front room. Thanks for the inspiration!!!
I love green accents. I have some all over our house. These pictures are so lovly. I am inspired afresh!
I love them all - apple green is my accent color. It just looks so bright, clean, and crisp. Other bright colors can make a room cold, but not this color green -swoon!
My best- Diane
Bring on the green! When I get all of the winter and Valentine decorations down, the first thing I want to add to my dreary still winter home is GREEN! Very soft bits of it here and there like the first bits of spring popping up everywhere! I set a fresh green and white table, put green bottles out with sticks and twigs, and a bit of really spriggy fake greenery here and there. It helps to get through those last dark days when the spring sun just won't shine! Thanks for the links!
Green reminds me of Spring also. I just finished redecorating my bedroom and used apple green as my accent color. Check it out. http://gloriaislivingonadime.blogspot.com/2011/03/st-pattys-parade-and-reveal.html
Love these spaces! Green is my favorite color.
I just surprised myself by falling in love with kelly green pillows for my otherwise neutral family room. They breathe such life into the room! I adore them and also I think they will work well with every season. Love the green rooms you featured. So springy and happy!
I like the green - but it was the bright yellow forsythia branches that made me swoon!
Gorgeous images! I love the first one especially. I posted recently about green too if you want more ideas! http://bjdhausdesign.blogspot.com/2011/03/green-energy.html

Yummy pictures. Thank you for the visuel inspiration.
We moved into a home last spring and I was delighted that the huge kitchen/dining area was painted sage green -- just beautiful. I really didn't realize how much I'm drawn to that color until I looked around my house... and my closet... and even my blog! It adds such a freshness.
I'm going to post a link to your post on my Willow House facebook page.

I love various shades of green. And coupled with white, it's one of my favorite colors. Since I'm a farmgirl, the sixth picture down - from Dreamy Whites - is the one that appeals to me the most. ;)
